It's 1977 and Disco is King. Well, Queen. In downtown Manhattan a gay-owned off off OFF Broadway theater is funded by the Mercury Messenger Service, a hole in the wall telephone answering service. With the coming of cheap answering machines, a changing economy, and altered desires, only one question remains for the artists running the theater: Will heartbreak signal the end of the theater, or just another beginning?
